Activities Schedule:
The first cruise out for the new year is almost here Jan. 19-20. We will be cruising the very distant and not so well known waters of West Point Slough. We can raft up or swing on the hooks. The explorers in the group will be boating their way through the sloughs to watch the wild life. Remember to bring your bird books so you can keep track of what type of birds are getting eaten by the Sand Sharks and young seals. This is an outing that all members with large or small, sail, power or row can take part in. Come out for the day; stay for dinner, the games or a movie. Some boats have heaters and well be very toasty down below for the different get togethers. Buddy up early because the boats fill up fast if it gets windy or rainy. If the weather turns real bad the outing will be called off so boats can get back to a safe harbor. If we break up and head home we do have another option, the local yacht club will let us use their club for a night of games, movies. They even have a nice fireplace to enjoy, so I'm told. We will be monitoring the normal VHF channels.
Notes on Facilities:
There are no facilities for this cruise. If weather permits, many of the boats will be rafting up. If it is cold, and it will be, we will congregate on boats with heating systems for the social hour. Dinner is on your own, although spontaneous potlucks have been known to happen on previous cruises of this nature.
Special Instructions:
Westpoint Slough can be found on Chart 18652, Page B, Inset 2. Bringing a dinghy along on this cruise is strongly advised. Any boat going aground is requested to lower their burgee. (see tidal information).
