Team Sequoia Wins the Bath Memorial Regata

By Tim Petersen - Posted on 17 September 2011

We had a happy Barthday!

The 2011 Barth Memorial Regata is over and Team Sequoia has ensured that the trophy painting will hang in the Sequoia Clubhouse in 2012.

The race started on schedule at 12:00 with light winds. The course was 3p, Xp, Bs,8p,Cs,As,8s,Finish for a total of 12.24 nautical miles. The winds remained light for the first part of the race, but once beyond the San Mateo Bridge the Barth Racers experienced winds much more in line with those expected off Coyote Point.

Congratulations to Team Sequoia's MADE Easy (Jim Peterson) for taking first place, and to Primordial Sloop (Henry Kleingberg) and Lucky Duck (Paul McCarthy) for taking second and third place respectively in the spinnaker division. Congratulations also goes to Melilani (Rich Butts) and to Iowa (Rick Dalton) for taking first and third place in the non-spinnaker division.

Sequoia Yacht Club was also represented by Dare Dare (Nico Popp) and Yellow Brick Road (John Draeger) in the spinnaker division, and Sweet Pea (Tim Petersen) in the non-spinnaker division.

Thanks goes to Larry Mayne and Kathy Harris for kicking off the race weekend with the Western BBQ, to Phillip Meredith for supplying the committee boat at the start of the race, and to George Suppes and the Coyote Point Yacht Club for a fun BBQ in the Regatta Room after the race.

Race results are available on the Bath Race web page.
