Summer #5 Race and Series Results Posted
The Summer Series came to an end on Saturday, August 21 with Race #5. There were 10 boats boats in the race, with 8 boats in the spinnaker division and 2 in the non-spinnaker division. The course was S/f- Bs- Yp- 12p- s/F for a total of 9.55nm. At the start the winds were 12-15kts and built up to 18kts.
Congratulations to Smokin' J (Stan Phillips) for taking first place, and to MADE Easy (Jim Peterson) and Head Rush (Charlie Watt) for taking second and third place respectively in the spinnaker division. Congratulations also goes to Linda Carol (Ray Collier) for taking first place, and to Iowa (Rick Dalton) for taking second place in the non-spinnaker division.

Sequoia Wins Los Gatos Invitational Challenge
Sequoia Yacht Club has won the Los Gatos Yacht Club Interclub Challenge Race for the second year in a row! This year, the race format was a series of five races in Merit 25 yachts, with two throw-outs. The SYC team was undefeated, finishing first in each of the May, June and July races. The other two clubs, Los Gatos Yacht Club and the Ames Sailing Club (NASA), then conceded the series and cancelled the remaining races.
Sequoia's yachts were crewed by Chris Owczarek, Jon McCarty, Rick Gilmore, John Zolck, and Victor Obreza, with Brett Herr as captain.

Single-handed #3 Race Results Posted
The 2010 SYC Single-handed Race Series continued on Sat., July 31 with race #3. Eight sailors came out to demonstrate their skills in piloting their boat without a crew on San Francisco Bay.
The race started promptly at 12:30 with moderate winds that continued to build through the afternoon. The course was 3/4 - Bp - 12p - Ss - Ys - 3/4 for a total of 8.85 nautical miles.
Congratulations to Sail la Vie (Phil MacFarlane) for taking first place and clinching first in the series, and to Lucky Duck (Paul McCarthy) and Melilani (Rich Butts) for taking second and third place respectively. The other single-handed racers were Iowa (Rick Dalton), Linda Carol (Ray Collier), Murmur (Doug Murray), Elise (Nathan Bossett) and Sweet Pea (Tim Petersen).
