2020 Sequoia Yacht Club Paddle Fleet Events

2020 Events

We're gearing up for a great paddle fleet year. Paddle Fleet Captain Bob Huffstutler encourage all paddlers to join in for these exciting events. Questions or suggestions? Contact Bob Huffstutler at or 831-524-4667.

Further event details will be presented in The Blast and the Slack Paddlefleet channel to SYC members as the event dates approach. And you can check back to this page for updates.

January 25, 2020 - Sequoia Yacht Club, Redwood Creek

This event is planned as an opportunity to meet paddlefleet members and those interested parties to find out what your interests are and set the stage for further Paddlefleet events in 2020. For Sequoia Yacht club members Redwood Creek is in our backyard and offers easy access to the water as well as availability to rent kayaks or standup paddle boards from California Canoe and Kayak across the parking lot. This is a great opportunity for those interested in paddling but haven't made the jump to purchase equipment. Redwood Creek offers a wide variety of shorebirds to view, seals that occasionally pop their heads up and an opportunity to see fellow SYC members in their boats cruise by! Contact Bob for further information.

EVENT #2 - Corkscrew Slough Paddle from Westpoint Marina

February 15, 2020  meet on the water at11:00 am end of H dock

We will be paddling  low tide at Corkscrew Slough after launching from Westpoint Marina. This is a combined event with the cruise fleet. The cruise fleet will be docked at the end of dock "H" and that will be the meeting place for paddlecraft. Meeting time, on the water, at the end of H dock will be 11:00 am. Bring water, snacks, sunscreen and a sweater in case you get chilly. Low tide at Corkscrew offers a good opportunity to view shorebirds foraging on the mudflats. Cameras and binoculars are optional, just be careful to keep them dry!!

Westpoint Marina has a public kayak launching area south of the Harbormaster office before the boat launch. A gravel path leads to the water from the parking area. If you need assistance launching your craft, arrive early at 10:30 and walk to the end of H dock where the cruise fleet will be docked. Jim Siders will be in slip H-29 and he or others will assist you getting your boat in the water. Once in the water paddle to the end of H dock to meet up with the group. The H dock finger is on the south side of the marina.

The cruise fleet will be hosting "Docktails" and appetizers from 3-4pm at the end of H dock. Bring a change of clothes for the evenings activities. The cruise fleet will be heading up to the Westpoint Yacht Club for an evening of revelery and a game or two of pool if you are so inclined.
